This is an exciting new venture and we are grateful to Ayrshire Leader with sponsorship which will help furnish us with various musical instruments for the children and voluntary tuition from some talented local musicians.

This page will fill throughout the year with the details and information on activities, an especially long page for the young ones’ achievements, a new generation of talent in Dundonald.

Culture is not just our past - it’s living - and here’s to the future!

So far there has been 120 children taught basic chords, strumming patterns and finger picking in two times one and a half hourly tuition sessions per week, for every child in primaries 4, 5, 6 and 7.

The younger children have practiced on castanets, tambourines and tom-toms.

We have tutors, Tony and May - both accomplished musicians who give their time voluntarily.  It is intended to have a half-hour set of the children performing in concert during the next music festival.  It will hopefully carry on to be an annual event for the festival.

This tuition is also preparatory to the music lessons at secondary school and many of the children are showing much promise.
